We have a screened in back porch which gets sun in the afternoon/evening, so we wanted shades to decrease that bright sun. I was also looking to improve the capabilities of my Smart Home, so I was looking online for sunshades and found Smart Wings amongst other brands. After looking at all the reviews and comparing the capabilities I decided to go with Smart Wings. I had a couple of questions before I ordered so sent an e-mail and got a quick response with useful answers. One of the great things about these shades is the are compatible with the Matter protocol. This is a relatively new protocol for smart home devices which is nice because it is compatible all smart home apps, including Google Home, which I use. Matter will also function if the internet is down. The other nice thing was that it used the Threads standard to communicate instead of Wi-Fi. Threads is a secure, communication protocol that Matter can use in addition to Wi-Fi. The advantage is it doesn't require a lot of power so if you have a battery-operated device, it will not use a lot of the battery life just to communicate with other devices. I ordered the available fabric samples to look at which one would work well with our porch. I followed the measuring instructions and sent in the order. The next day I received an e-mail from Smart Wings with a question about the order to make sure I had it correct. The shade came pretty quickly, and installation went smoothly. The shades have a guidewire so that they don't move when it's windy. We were installing them inside the screen-in porch, because our home-owners association wouldn't allow us to install them on the outside. Also, we are planning on installing 3 of them eventually so I didn't really like how all those guidewires would look so I didn't install them. Instead, I decided to use 5/16-inch quick release pins connected to eye hooks. They fit nicely in the holes at the side of the rod on the bottom of the shade where the guidewires would go. In the attached picture the moiré appearance is because the screen is behind it. That wouldn't happen if there was no screen. Overall, I have been happy with the entire process, and I will buy more. The only slight negative I could say is I wish they had a "built-in" option to keep the shades from moving too much in the wind other that the guidewires.

We lost a very large tree that had been protecting us from the setting sun. Our lake house faces West and the view is great without the tree; however, the afternoon summer sun is not so great. I used manual roller shades for years but automated shades that I can adjust with the push of a button while sitting on the porch are very cool. These shades are 3% with nice shade but you can also see the lake view through them. The Z-Wave long range is not the best and I would suggest regular Z-Wave if Z-Wave is your choice of connection.

Great shades—easy to install once the first one is done. Adjustable guide wires help with wind and matter motors, and a straightforward top program ( Homekit ) works with Siri! Customer service was excellent (they returned messages within 24 hours ), and the quality, service, and price exceeded expectations! I highly recommend them over other competitors. One item to add as an option would be a guide track with the guide wire. I installed my tracks using PVC moulding. Cherry was easy to work with and responsive! Cheers! David D.

Easy to install, motor is quiet, and the shade looks nice. I mounted the solar panel south facing just to the left of the shade and it blends right in with the brown wood. I’m using the shade with Apple HomeKit and it paired the first time and works reliably. Tip: Order the shade a longer length than your measurements because you may want to mount the valance higher above the window so you don’t see the bottom rail of the shade through the window when the shade is up.

The shade was extremely well packaged and arrived in excellent condition. Since I live in a remote mountain area, there is no professional installer nearby. With the help of my wife we managed to install the outdoor shade about 12 feet high above the floor. Following the instructions to "wake up" the electric motor was easy,
so is the use of the remote control. We love our new remote controlled shade and ordered two more for smaller side windows right away. Unfortunately we were too fast, so we missed the special discount offers which

We were looking to add 4 outdoor sunshades to our covered patio to block the low afternoon sun. After contacting local businesses and receiving estimates anywhere between $6000-$8000 for sunshades manually operated with a crank or chain, I started looking online to see what else is available. This is how I came across SmartWings products. I’m the first to admit, I was very skeptical at first and not sure if it is a good idea to order such a product online.
After reading all the great reviews and doing my own research I went ahead and ordered. Boy, am I glad I did. These sunshades are truly fantastic! The shipping was extremely fast, and the shades arrived packaged and protected to perfection. The installation and programming are easy when you follow the instructions. The shades look very luxurious and well made. I haven’t found a flaw yet. It is amazing to sit in your chair and watch the shades go up and down with the push of a button (we opted for a simple remote control) and pay so much less than for manual shades. Customer service also receives high marks. I called for a question I had on a different matter and left a message. I received a call back within minutes from a very helpful CSR and my problem was solved on the spot. I can highly recommend SmartWings, and I will be purchasing more shades in the future. And no, I’m not a paid spokesperson. Just a very happy customer.

We were considering indoor shades for these west-facing windows, to make eating dinner more comfortable. Then I realized that SmartWings outdoor shades could be a better choice, and they have worked very well. We chose 5% openness Black Gold fabric, and they look great.
Mounting them on the outside wall was very simple (just need to check & double-check horizontal levelness), and they worked well with the pre-paired remote controls.

This was a very positive experience from the first email I sent Smartwings looking to understand how to order them, install them for my application and setting them up within my Apple eco-system to the actual installation. I dealt directly and only with Yoyo from the factory and can tell you it was Yoyo who sold me on these. What an overall fantastic customer support experience over a three week period (I had a lot of questions)...and Yoyo answered every one by the next business day as well as gave me advice that worked well for my application.
I am running these using the Apple Home App (HomeKit) so I ordered the Matter motor, a seamless connection the first time. Smartwings user manuals were well worded, concise and easy to understand. I ordered two, one narrow one to cover one window that opens and one wide one to cover two stationary windows. It only took a week for the manufacturing to order and delivery. Packaging was top notch.
They really do a great job of reducing the heat from the afternoon sun on the west side of our sunroom which is why I ordered them. This in turn reduces the air conditioning load and keeps the room 12 degrees F cooler. We can easily see through them to the outside but during the day you cannot see into the house (at night with lights on in the house it would be the opposite).
You can set the up and down height to where ever you want and you can choose between three speeds for the shades to go up and down. I have mine set to come down in the early afternoon and then go up 15 min before sunset automatically but you can use their remote to manually interact with them at any time.
I’ve had them installed for about two months now and use them every day. Though the wide one is now making a repetitive clicking noise when in operation, I have no worries that the Smartwings warranty will back me if needed and I'd order from Smartwings again.

Easy to install mounting clips and easy Apple HomeKit integration. Motor is very quiet compared to other motorized shades. Separate solar panel allows for better placement for sun compared to other outdoor motorized shades where the solar panel is fixed to the valance. I recommend that when ordering an outdoor roller shade order about 10 inches longer than the actual window height. I ordered it 6 inches longer than the window and mounted the shade about 3 inches above the top of the window. After mounting the shade I lowered it and the default full closed position didn’t cover the bottom 3 inches of the window. Fortunately I could adjust the lower limit enough to fully cover the window.

First off, their customer service is awesome. I did have a problem with one of our shades and they resolved it without too much hassle. The shades themselves function as you would hope and as well as advertised. We have the outdoor shades working with Alexa and Siri flawlessly. This would be a 5 star review if the material was more opaque. They do not block out direct sunlight well enough so I'll be on the lookout for a darker material.

The screens look great and work fine. I mounted them each to a pressure treated 2x4 and lifted them between my pergola beams and then attached on top to 1/8 inch aluminum plates that I rotated in place and screwed down.

These are great, we like them so much we ordered some more, but one unexpected thing is the huge tangle of wires that dangles from each motor - the photos on the website certainly don't show any of that! I even contacted support to make sure I didn't miss anything and they pretty much said that's just how it is. The wires are antennas, a charging port, and a switch. Can't really see it from inside, though, so that's what counts.

Installed blinds on outside of a huge 12' long by 9' high sliding glass door (2 blinds). Had a big wind storm and they held up to that test. Due to the height, I got help from a professional installer, and it seemed fairly simple for a DIY job on normal height shades. Took about 3 weeks to get shades after ordering, and I am amazed they are the perfect size and work so well (motorized with optional solar panel power). Well designed and well constructed to block the direct summer sun's heat and UV from entering house.

Installed (5) SmartWings outdoor blinds on a new screened in porch. Easy to install and operate with the remote. Used ZWave motors so we can control the blinds remotely. Only issue is when ordering is that the motor position was confusing in terms of the right or left side. Our blinds were built with the motor on the wrong side. The slides indicate that they have an internal battery but they will not operate without the 12 vdc power supply connected.

I would like to thank the support team @ SmartWings for their ongoing support and assistance. My blind wasn't a easy case.
When I first received my 72"W x 86"L blind the packaging was very protective. I ordered a wire-direct or plug-in style blind. Unfortunately, there were issues with the motor wiring on the blind or a misunderstanding on 12V vs. 120V. I had several back-n-forth emails with customer service over the issues and they sent several solutions to fix the issue but none of the solutions worked to resolve the issue.
After several attempts to fix my blind, SmartWings completely replaced the blind at "no cost".
When I received the replacement with direct plug in wiring and installed the blind it worked perfectly.
I then found it challenging to link SmartWings blind to Alexa, which was one of the primary reasons for choosing SmartWings. After some instructions and videos from customer support (Zed) I was able to finally link my new SmartWings blind to Alexa and setup routine to open and close my new blind daily.
I would differently recommend SmartWings blinds and plan on purchasing again.

Ordered 3 exterior shades for second story 4 foot windows, 12 feet of solar absorbing heat radiating UV destroying portals. They came programmed channels 1,2,3 and up/down limits. That is service. Installation was easy. Now when the sun is trying to incinerate us, we drop the shades and all is well. Thank you SmartWings.

We ordered several exterior roller blinds and delivery was very reasonable considering they were custom sizes and shipping from China (1.5-2.5 weeks, depending on order). Online chat was helpful when I had questions creating my order. Support was responsive and helpful when I didn't read the instruction and tried to connect the blinds to my network out of the order I supposed to use (pro tip, read and follow the included instructions). Blinds were easy to install, despite my home's many challenges (installing into a hardwood and using a scaffold for some of the blinds). I have the blinds automated using HomeKit/Thread and have experienced zero drops or issues over the last month.
As the brand expands, it would be good to see other fabric choices and a variety of "openness".

The installation went fairly smooth. The one issue I had was that the hole for the cables was not threaded correctly. It seems that the hole was an M3 and needed to rethreaded with a tap to m4. This was an inconvienence. Otherwise they are great and work well.
