From start to finish, what a terrific experience! I purchased two Roman Shade blinds for my bedroom. Selection of options on the website was simple and straight forward. The roman shades was exactly what we needed for our master bedroom. I had bought 2 blackout roller shades, but in truth the roller shades constantly malfunctioned. I've had no issues yet with our roman shades as I think the mechanism is different and also it uses the Matter/Thread motor. I'm very happy with this purchase. Our bedroom is totally dark now!
This is now my 3rd SmartWings Roman Shade. The whole process is super easy. As long as you measure correctly, everything else is a breeze. We love our sliding door shade. We get the basic motor as we just prefer using a remote. Blocks light perfectly and more importantly adds a sense of security to our home at night by covering our sliding door.
I’m just pleased with the entire experience. From selection of the blinds and all the accessories via the website, shipping and the time the blinds took to arrive, overall ease of installation, and lastly integration into Apple Home/Homekit. Usage of the blinds using automation, the supplied remotes, or any iDevice and/or Siri has been seamless with little to no issue. Because I chose Matter over Thread, it appears that my LG ThinQ app also picked up the blinds which I can also use with that app as well.
We are beyond impressed that measuring our window according to SmartWings’ instructions resulted in a Roman shade that fit the opening perfectly! We chose a Zwave motor that integrates with Amazon Alexa without using a separate hub. After a couple of experiments we are able to control the shade perfectly. Pro tip: Alexa treats this like a dimmer switch, but “0%” is all the way open and “100%” is all the way closed, which means in Alexa terms that “ON” is closed and “OFF” is open, also that “DOWN” means up and “UP” means down. Your best bet is to set up routines in the Alexa app and choose commands that make sense to you.

We now have 8 Smartwings matter-over-thread roman shades in our house, with solar panels. Blackout in the bedrooms, light-permitting in the living and dining areas. They look great, easy install, reliable. Very pleased.

Roman blinds are quiet and functional, great connection with matter-over-thread. Do a good job blocking out light, look nice. It was confusing unpacking them, trying to figure out which foam to leave and which to remove.
