FAQ:
Q: How much sunlight is needed to power the shade?
A: Typically, it requires around 4 to 6 hours of optimal sunlight exposure to achieve a full charge, ensuring that your shades perform consistently throughout the day. If you are in an area with weaker sunlight, it may take longer.

Q: What should be done if there is rainy weather?
A: If you're concerned about the shades' performance while charging with the solar panel, rest assured that even with a week of consecutive rainy weather and no solar energy input, the energy stored from the previous charge will typically be sufficient to keep the shades running.

Q: How can I confirm that the solar panel is providing a stable power input to the shade?
A: The motor LED light flashes green when it recharges the motor. The motor LED light turns solid green when the battery is fully charged.

Q: How can I make the solar panel more aesthetically pleasing and discreet?
A: To make the solar panel more aesthetically pleasing and discreet, it's recommended to select the motor on the right side, which allows the solar panel's cable to be hidden behind the valance.

Q: Does the solar panel need direct sunlight?
A: The solar panel will charge as long as it is exposed to sunlight, though the efficiency of charging depends on the angle at which the sunlight strikes the panel. Solar panels must not be installed under eaves or other obstructions. They are incompatible with triple-pane or tinted windows and should not be placed on north-facing windows.

Q: Can I use one solar panel to charge two shades?
A: No. Solar panels are designed to work on a one-to-one basis with each shade.

Q: Can I use one solar panel and rotate it to charge multiple shades?
A: No. Once the solar panel is fixed in place and then removed, the adhesive on the back (3M tape) will lose its stickiness and cannot be reused.

The solar panel could not have been easier to install for our Roman-style shades. Stick, plug, and play does the job. The one minor snag I ran into is that the output cord is very short. I had to purchase a USB-C extension cord to reach the power charge socket on the shades. I understand why the designers would want a short cord (to avoid interfering with shade operation), but in my opinion they erred in this regard. Overall, this is a quick, easy, and inexpensive accessory for our shades.

I have enjoyed my shades and solar chargers over the past two years. Tied into the networked lights, it is like having Jeeves knowing the scheduling of the lights and shades.

Was quoted over 2k for these 2 windows. Got them from smartwings for around $400. I been telling everyone one I know how your company. Thank you

I've currently 38 Smartwings indoor blinds and 2 outdoors, with a few more to install. I've had most of them for about a year and a half, and charging them was a nuisance, but not the end of the world. I originally ordered 7 of the solar panels, and recently order 28 more. I couldnt believe how efficient they were at recharging my z-wave blinds. I get a ton of sun on most of the blinds, but they're all just hanging out at 100% and I'm not convinced I'll need to charge them again. There are a few that aren't in the direct sun, but that's fine. Charging <10 and letting the sun do the rest is well worth it. I get between 5-10% charge per sunny day.

The solar panels work well with my SmartWings shades. I have 8 of them as I have that many shades in my home. All connected to Alexa and programmed to open and close at predetermined times. With the solar panels no need to charge shades. Just connect and forget.

Love it. Having a solar charger to the shades is so convenient. Every morning I walk by and just a click and done....and same in the evening. I never have to worry about charging the batteries. The solar panel is well worth the investment.

Shades are great! Installed them on all my windows. I only have the solar panel attachements on the shades on the backside of the house. I don’t like how you can see them through the window on the front of the house. But I love these products. So simple to install .. works perfectly with Apple Home and Siri. I highly recommend these. 15 of 18 blinds installed. working great. Only recommendation is to provide a roadmap of which pamphlet to use first, second, third for installing. Thankfully your customer service folks answered my calls (three total) promptly and guided me through the programming to home kit. In particular, there were glitches programming the upper and lower stops after I had to perform factory resets a couple times. However, overall, like the end result very much. Very user friendly for my family via "Hey Siri ...".

Love having my shades always powered. I was tired of having to run around and charge them. Also I didn’t have outlets near some of the shades.

The shades are perfect. The fit 100% accurate. Custom made and delivered in about 10 days at a fraction of the price of BTG and Shade Store. Color and mechanics are great quality. I installed 3 huge shades and had them programed in 40 minutes. I highly recommend this company. Also has very good customer service.

Fast production and shipping. Always about 1 week from the other side of the planet. Good quality and great support... Suzy!

Solar Panel for Indoor Shades

Solar panels work well to maintain battery percentage. Haven't seen an increase yet but I have had weak sun coverage. The wire also fits through my screen and allows me to apply the panel directly onto the glass.

Placed solar panels on our new Smartwings shades. Easy peasy install. Powers everyday. 100%. One less thing to be concerned about. Just do it!

Works as advertised

Solar Panel

I installed my shades in windows that are rally high. I really don't want to need to get a tall ladder every now and then in order to recharge. The solar panels were the perfect solution! They aren't invisible, for sure, but they aren't too distracting and they do their job perfectly well. Overall I'm very happy with them and with everything I got from SmartWings in general. 100% recommended.

Shades work great, solar panels easy to install

As with the roller shades these are terrific additions. Even on cloudy days they charge the battery, although at a lower rate. They are easily concealed behind the roller itself.
